Updates on the situation along the
Cambodia-Thailand border regarding the case of the Thai military forces continued their armed aggression on Cambodia, in the 4th and 5th Military Regions on December 21, 2025 which enters the 15th day: The Thai side has continuously violated the ceasefire and the “Joint Declaration signed by the Prime Ministers of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Kingdom of Thailand” on October 26, 2025. 1. The frontline situation at the 4th Military Region Oddar Meanchey and Preah Vihear provinces: The Thai military continued its attack to invade Cambodian sovereign territory: From 5:00pm on December 20 to 10:00am on December 21, 2025: On December 20, 2025 – At 5:30pm, the Thai military fired heavy artillery and supporting artillery into the area of Thmar Daun. On December 21, 2025 – At 00:05am, the Thai military fired 3 shots with mortars into the area of Tamone temple. – At 6:15am, the Thai military began shelling with heavy artillery, along with tanks firing shells into the areas of Thmar Daun and Tamone temple. – At 6:25am, the Thai military fired heavy and supporting artillery, along with drones, into the area of Tamone temple.
– At 9:31am, the Thai military deployed toxic gas into the area of Preah Vihear Temple. The situation in other areas remains calm, but our forces continue to monitor closely and remain highly vigilant. 2. The frontline situation at the 5th Military Region in Banteay Meanchey province: The Thai military continued its attack to invade Cambodian sovereign territory: From 12:00am until 10:00am on December 21, 2025: – At 5:50am, the Thai military fired shells into the area of Boeung Trokoun. – At 6:09am, the Thai military deployed reconnaissance drones violating Cambodian airspace into the area of Prey Chan village. – At 7:09am, the Thai military fired shells into the area of Prey Chan village. – At 9:27am, the Thai military continued shelling into the area of Prey Chan village. The situation in other areas remains calm, but our forces continue to monitor closely and remain highly vigilant. The Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia wishes to reiterate that “Cambodia’s rights to self-defence is solely targeted at the Thai military targets and has never targeted at civilian areas”. Conversely, the Thai side has deliberately attacked locations where Cambodian civilians reside, resulted in 19 deaths (including 1 infant) and injuries to 79 innocent Cambodian civilians, as of 6:00pm December 20, 2025.
